The Department of Justice’s financial management system that is used to process VCF payments will be shut down from September 24, 2018, to October 9, 2018, in order to perform required updates. These updates require the Civil Division, under which the VCF falls, to stop processing VCF payments on September 21, 2018. Although this system outage will not affect the VCF’s activity in authorizing payments, it will temporarily delay the processing and issuance of payments by the Department of the Treasury.

The VCF has worked closely with the Department’s finance staff to ensure that payments on claims approved for expedited processing as a result of terminal illness or imminent financial hardship can be processed during this period.

The Department anticipates the updates will be complete on October 9, 2018; payment processing will resume on October 10, 2018. The VCF is coordinating efforts with the Civil Division to ensure additional staff is on hand to process all authorized VCF payments as quickly as possible once the financial management system is available for use.

We greatly appreciate your patience during this period.
